We spent 45 minutes yesterday arguing about her outfit.
I had a super cute outfit all picked out for her.
She wanted to wear something completely different that I’m not even sure matched.
It wasn’t til she said “Mama, I want to dress like ME,” I realized I was stifling her creativity.
I was telling her she “had” to dress and “look” a certain way.
I was telling her not to express herself.
I was telling her she had to be the way I wanted her to be.
So we agreed….
Unless we are shooting pictures for a campaign, she can pick out her clothes.
Her outfit has to be appropriate for the weather.
It has to be clean 🤦🏼♀️
And other than that she can wear whatever her little creative 🧡 desires.
Its not up to me to force her into a narrative.
Its up to me to encourage her to be herself and be comfortable in that truth.
Its up to me to make sure she can be creative in who she is….and not be afraid to do that.
Its up to me to support her leopard print-sequin-butterfly combo….and love her for it.
