We have started to celebrate every tiny little victory.
And I truly hope that no one ever takes our joy, pride, and happiness for bragging. I won’t though ever downplay what we’ve achieved because it makes someone uncomfortable. Our family has gotten past the point of comparing ourselves to others. We are choosing to measure ourselves against our own ruler and not someone else’s controlled social media content. Our story is so unique and so different, it’s so clear now…….It’s not worthy of any comparison. We now understand that comparison doesn’t strengthen anything other than insecurities. Our real life is better than anyone else’s highlight reel.
So when we share our good news, our milestones, our victories, know that it is with grace and joy. We want to make sure that we acknowledge the “I can’t believe I did that” moments. We want to make sure that we celebrate the “Did that just actually happen?” experiences. We don’t want to be so focused on the end goals and the finish line that we miss celebrating the journey.
Because knowing what we’ve overcome, knowing what we’ve accomplished, I’m proud of our efforts. I’m proud of our accomplishments. I’m proud of us.
And because the more that you celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.
So we will share the small tiny victories. We will share them because they put us closer to our goals. We will share them because we once dreamed of being where we are now. We will celebrate new leg builds and years with diabetes. We will share the milestones and the baby steps. We will share how much we have grown and how much we have yet to go. We will celebrate Fridays with cake pops at Starbucks. We will dress up and go out to a fancy dinner because it’s a Monday. We will celebrate finishing a tough project with our favorite candy bar. We will celebrate the tiny victories and shout them from the mountain tops because we know that they are subtly guiding us to our destination. We will celebrate the victory no matter how small because all progress counts. We will celebrate with balloons and new shoes. We will toss confetti in the air and dance. Because life is what you celebrate it…..all of it.
