Callie Bear and I spent Valentine’s Day handing out close to 100 carnations at our local nursing home.
Everyone wanted a hug from Callie or to touch her hair.
We heard so many “God bless yous” that I lost count.
We had tears and shaky voices telling us thank you…..because they hadn’t had a visitor in a while.
She brought a ray of sunshine to that place and I could not be more proud of her.
We met a new friend that had a prosthetic leg like Callie and they got to compare metal.
We saw a lady who recognized us from our local grocery store where she used to be a cashier.
We met Mr. Jack who was recovering from a broken hip and said he would be our Valentine any day of the week.
We met another friend who didn’t speak English–but we were definitely able to connect with a smile, a gesture, and a pat on the hand. Flowers translate across all languages.
This was the second year in a row that we had been chosen by Tiny Tags to be a Love Ambassador. Hearts filled to the brim, we went home filled with joy and memories.
