Substance Behind the Scroll

October 13, 2020 in Family, Lifestyle - No Comments

We use social media platforms every day.  They are imbedded in our daily habits, routines, and lives.

We use them to share a fresh perspective, teach new skills, and improve the lives of our digital communities.

Sometimes we include a great message or moment behind the post–but other times it’s simply a pretty picture sharing our outfits of the day or a funny quote.

For us–we want to be the substance behind the scroll.

When you come to our social media feed, we equate that to welcoming you as guests in our home. I’m very conscious when I open the door of our “home” to our community, it isn’t to an empty, barren, shallow shell of a house.

We want you to feel the energy we are putting out into the world.

We want you to feel inspired, motivated, and supported.

We want you to see ways to help others–especially ones that might look different than you or have different abilities than you do.

We want you to see the struggle and the heartbreak–the miles we have traversed.  Little souvenirs of our travels through this special needs landscape scattered throughout.

We want you to see that you too can scale these mountains….and use our story as a map.

We want you to see that we are perfectly imperfect, messy, thankful, grateful, and blessed.

We want you to see that it’s ok to have different ideas than others–just like we have different abilities, thoughts can be unique as well.

We want to show you the real.  Images very rarely tell a full story.

We want to show you cute outfits and recipes but also ways that you can push through adversity and challenges.

We want to show you that joy and grief can be roommates.

We want to show you the tucked away closets, the big fireplace, and the small plants that are starting to bloom in their copper pots.  Learning to bloom where they have been planted.

We want to show you that the exterior “paint” is nowhere near as important as the foundation of the house.  Make no mistake–it won’t be rainbows and sunshine and the perfect façade around this social media neighborhood.

We want to show you when you stop by our little corner of this digital world, that you are welcome here, you are seen, and you matter.

We want to show you love and light.

We want to show you that within these walls we know joy.  That each room has held laughter.  And that we will continue to open every window and door to possibilities……

About Me

Jaime

Hi Y'all! I’m Jaime, a proud working mama, author, girl boss and wifey to an ultra-adorable husband. I am a huge book nerd, I drink coffee like my life depends on it, and run on dry shampoo and Amazon Prime. Leopard print is my favorite color. I am a story teller at heart and this blog is a virtual scrapbook of our crazy beautiful life. I'm a Type One Diabetic and our little warrior princess Callie is a lower limb amputee. By sharing how we’ve chosen to flourish in the garden we’ve been planted in, we hope you can take some small nuggets of hope, inspiration, and laughter. We are so grateful that you’ve found us—welcome to the fam. We embrace our perfectly imperfect lives and don’t let the doctor’s appointments, spreadsheets, speaking engagements, 10th birthday parties to plan, housework or date nights overwhelm us. Those things are just the beautiful reminders of all the blessings in our lives. Read More
