The most important thing I can do right now is not share divisive content on social media about the events that happened in our country this week.
Or post mean sarcastic comments.
Or write “I told you so” pieces.
Or call other human beings horrible names.
Or act like I know all the facts and am an expert.
There’s enough of that in the world right now and that’s not my style AT all. The ignorance, hate, divisiveness and anger that shows itself in those actions are a reflection of what’s in the hearts (and homes) of the people posting them.
The most important thing I can do RIGHT now is continue to teach my daughter how to EMBRACE and INTERACT with people that look differently than her.
Think differently than her.
Have different abilities than her.
Pray differently than her.
Grew up differently than her.
Process things differently than her.
React differently than her.
Have a different family unit than her.
Vote differently than her.
Speak differently than her.
Love differently than her.
Believe differently than her.
Dream differently, feel differently, and are simply DIFFERENT from her.
Because at the end of the day…..I’m not going to change the world with a sarcastic comment on someone’s social media page.
I’m going to change the world by raising a generation that spends more time encouraging, pouring into, and changing the lives of people who are different than themselves.
