About Us

Hi everyone, my name is Jaime. I am happily married to the love of my life, James.

Yes, James and Jaime. We couldn’t have planned that if we tried. I’m a Type One Diabetic and Cancer Survivor. We both love traveling and working out. I’m a writer, dreamer, and girl boss. He loves country music, video games and being outside at our ranch. Coffee is our love language. Family is everything to us.

We are the parents to the most incredible warrior princess, Callie Grace. She is a lower limb amputee who walks with the aid of a mermaid print prosthetic leg. She also has a congenitive heart defect called Tetrology of Fallot which has caused her to have two open heart surgeries. She is the most amazing child–if you know her then you can back me up on this! Her strength, grace, and resilence brings us to our knees and we are so grateful to be her parents. Callie loves ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. Her favorite color is pink. She loves riding horses and does therapy riding lessons once a week! She wants to open a zoo/wildlife rescue center when she is older so she can save all the animals. She lights up our life and the lives of everyone that knows her.

We are hoping with this blog to share our story. I’m a storyteller at heart and this blog will be our way to leave a legacy.

We hope to inspire others to dream big and shoot for the stars. To remind everyone to be kind. To chronicle our adventures–our triumphs and heartbreaks. To help shed light on inclusion and diversity. To advocate for representation in the fashion and beauty industry with our budding model. To help others have courage and be kind (our family moto!).  Thank you so much for stopping by and being a part of our journey!

A softer life starts here….

A softer life starts here….

Hi Y'all

Hi, I’m Jaime — writer, mother, storyteller, and the heart behind the blog. For nearly a decade, I wrote online as The Princess and the Prosthetic, sharing my daughter’s journey with disability and the lessons our family learned along the way. It was a beautiful season — full of advocacy, connection, and community — but as my daughter grew older, I felt a shift. She deserved more autonomy. More privacy. More room to decide how she shows up in the world. And I realized something else: My own story was expanding too. Motherhood was still here. Disability was still here. But so were grief, healing, womanhood, nervous system care, feminine energy, homemaking, identity, softness… the fuller, deeper pieces of life that were ready to be spoken aloud. Whether you come for the cozy routines, the motherhood reflections, the disability advocacy, or the soft life inspiration — thank you for choosing to share this space with me. Pour a warm drink. Settle in. Let’s grow a life that feels like you again.

Jaime
